Really? My ex is a Geordie and I never heard it referred to as that. I do know, however, that it's often called 'a bottle of dog' or a 'Newkie' - best said with a proper Geordie accent! There may be some terms of endearment for it, too!

Good, glad to hear. It was said to me by a Scottish officer and then also by a couple of men in the pub on the south coast.
In all honesty, just makes it easy for my husband because he only has one type of drink to order. lol

Also, if there's any people on here from Indiana (where I lived most of my life and currently do), would be nice to know. Thanks!

Welcome....nice story. I love real ales and microbrews, reminds me of when I first visited my now wife in the States, and online she kept asking me what beer she should get in for me and I was saying Sam Adams or some local microbrews, she kept asking about Newcastle Brown and I was saying "no, I can get that here, get me some local stuff", when I got there she'd bought Newcastle Brown, she said she wanted to give me comforts of home (even though I very rarely drink it)....her heart was in the right place.
