Settling In
« on: October 14, 2010, 09:17:51 PM »
Hey everyone! Just thought I'd start a topic to see how everyone's been settling into their daily lives here in England, now that the majority of our courses will have started by now, and most of us have been here for a few weeks now.

I'm sure there have been some ups & downs for everyone, so I just wanted to see if everything is the way you expected it to be? Anybody have any fun stories to share?? :D

Things are going well for me at Uni of Manc, my classes are keeping me busy. Took an extra class that I really didn't have to. Decided to keep it anyway, then next term I'll only have 1 class so I can get a head start on my dissertation.

Haven't had too much trouble yet, been to the UK 4 times before so some stuff was already familar. I do know that i don't want to go back home. I never had this much fun in college the 1st time around. Made lots of new friends, and I'm the only amercian in my building.
There are 2 other americans in my program as well 1 doing her Phd, so she invited us over for Thanksgiving, british style.

i feel pretty much the same way as Joy. I had been to the UK numerous times before moving so i knew what i was getting into. I love being here and wouldnt go back home if i could. I much rather be here.

Ive met lot of people here from all around the world, an experience i would not have had if i lived in the states still. Ive settled in very nicely, got a flat, my weekly routine down, my gf, new friends, and lots and lots of studies lol.

I'm really happy in my studies at Leeds Uni.  There have been a few bumps with my classmates (none involving myself thankfully!) but things are relatively good there.  I love our house and my boyfriend has really proved himself with the family emergency I'm currently dealing with.

I couldn't believe that someone checks your name off a list and you have to sign something when you submit a paper! Wow, formal!
