Washing Machine Sit-Com
« on: November 30, 2010, 09:26:38 AM »
We ordered a new washing machine with a connect & collect service.  But this does not include the disconnect service.  I think, "how hard can this be?  We can do it ourselves."

Well, I do it all bass-ackwards and pull out the machine before I turn off the water.  As I am moving the machine around to find where to turn off the water, I yank the hose and crack the connection and and water is spraying all over the place.  Mr. K and I try to stem the tide, he is shouting, I am soaking wet...I tell him to call a plumber, he counters with "we should have called one to begin with!"  Then the plumber he calls has on hold music for 5 minutes.  I get him to hold the hose and I call the plumber...you get the general hilarity of the whole situation.  All this from a washing machine that needed to be replaced because it leaked!

Anyway, in the midst of all the fun, my iPhone (in my hoodie pocket) dialled Legs Akimbo!  Here is the text I got from her:

I am going to assume your phone decided to call me on its own.  Sounds like you're in the middle of a mess.  Hope things get sorted.

Now that it is all sorted, and I am waiting for delivery, I figure I have a great dinner party story!  Unless of course, any of you are at the dinner party.  Then I will need a new story! ;D

Hehehehhe  ;D

I flooded my kitchen a few times with my DIY plumbing for my new dishwasher.  I didn't feel so bad anymore when the engineer who came to fix the machine did the same thing yesterday.
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

Washing machine is delivered and connected.  TOTALLY worth all the drama.  I now have several different water temps to choose as well as spin cycles and a quick wash that is less than an hour!   ;D

But now it makes all the other appliances in the kitchen look shabby! :P

LOL... great story!  All the best ones start with someone thinking 'how hard could it be?'  And I'm sure it's funnier now that it is all over.  Glad you like the new washer, but isn't it always the way that once you replace one thing it takes the shine off everything else.   ;)
