I have watched it...it was interesting to see the little room they go into in Heathrow when they are checking on someone. The immigration officer did that for me when I came over on my visitor visa...and it was interesting to see them interogate people and how it all works. Since I was refused entry once. It is interesting to see other people go thru it. I am happy to say though that since my refusal I have gotten married and am living here on my marriage visa hehe so I don't have to worry about the UK Border force...
the one thing that bugs me is when they go after illegal immigrants that are working illegally if they are caught and they can't produce a passport they are just let go and get to stay here..they aren't arrested or anything. Now when I got refused entry I was doing everything by the book and couldn't get in the country...these people come in illegally and get to stay here...it doesn't make sense

yep and the Aussie one as well. Some people just don't learn, do they? The repeat offenders and the ones who are clearly stupid just astound me.

Oh dear, I'm watching the Australian one right now and they've got a man from San Francisco in the interview room. He is there as a tourist, except he is happily stating he doesn't have a dime on him, no credit or debit cards and very little luggage. When asked how he is going to survive with no money, he's claiming he is a survivor and will camp out and be a forager in the woods! He also has a harmonica which he will play for people to entertain them.

The IO is telling him that she believes he will be forced to work in order to support himself and even pay for a ticket back to the US, and he's like 'No, I won't be going back to the US', to which she's replied: 'Yes, you will be going back, because that's where you came from'!

Obviously, he has no clue about border controls or how serious the conversation is (he offered to buy her a coffee and talk about it... with what money, I don't know!) and seems to believe that he can tell the IO what he is going to do and she will just accept it :P.

Where did you get that idea from? They are investigated, and if it appears they have broken immigration law, arrested and charged, and if found guilty imprisoned and/or deported. They may be bailed while awaiting trial or deportation, but they are definitely not just ignored.

It must be the impression the show gives people.  I am not a viewer, but my father in law said the same thing.  Basically, according to the show, if they can't prove someone is from a country, they can't force a country to take them back, so they release them.  My father in law is a pretty regular viewer, so it definitely isn't a fluke thing.

I've seen the show once, and the woman without a passport had admitted to the officers she was from Ukraine.  She was detained because of that admission and others, but was finally able to go back to Ukraine faster than she would have otherwise because someone dropped off her passport.

So the show is definitely giving two messages to its viewers.

I think that getting angry about the supposed application of UK immgration law because of either a TV show or what somebody said about a TV show is kind of a waste of time. In any case there are bound to be ways and means and procedures that they are not going to broadcast.

Don't worry.  I am not angry.  I only posted my FiL's comments because you asked where JEP got that impression.  Obviously, it was the show that gave that impression.

It is available on you tube last time I checked...it's the only way I can watch it since we don't have Sky.

Sorry for digging up an old topic, I actually found it when I was googleing where to find UK Border Force online.  I've only managed to find one or two episodes.  Does anyone have any good links for it?  It seems to be gone from you tube.

It's on Sky1 & Sky3 so if you're a Sky Subscriber (its like cable) you can log into their site & watch them there. But if you're trying to log in from the US the Skyplayer won't work because you're outside the UK.

No. Freeview is not an online service. It's a digital set top box that you can purchase. Even some new TV's in the UK come with it installed already.
