Dallas to east Kent

Hello. I'm new to UK-Yankee but not to the UK. I've been here for 12 years, married to a Brit, and we live in Whitstable, in east Kent.

I was a member of American Expats forum, who have apparently quit. The website is down and email returned. I paid for the subscription -- the PayPal receipt said "Courtwood Photographic Ltd" but they claim to know nothing about it. Ah well, it happens........!

Any other Americans live near me?

How exciting! We'll have to get together for a cuppa once the dust has settled. Are you coming to get married or to work? I live about 20-30 minutes from Dover, but it's a straight shot in. Less than driving from Carrollton to Plano, for example. Do you already have a house or flat (aka apartment)? Have you visited this area at all?

As for how I like it, it depends on the day you ask. It has its ups and downs. There's lots to see and do here. If you have any questions, let me know. Otherwise have a safe journey.

I just moved from whitstable about 3 months ago, and am now in village just outside of Canterbury. I'm also a fellow Texan, so it's nice to know that there are some of knocking about around here

Hi JaneH!  I'm just seeing this so I'm sorry for the delayed response.  I'm so happy to hear of a fellow Texan neighbor!  I will be joining my husband in the next 3 weeks in Dover, but very near Canterbury.  I am coming to join my husband and will look for work after the holidays.  We were married in 2012 and lived in Texas for 2 years before deciding to move back to England to be closer to his family. 
I may definitely have to reach out to you for moral support in the coming months... Or for company over tea/coffee!

So looks like at least three of us then (me, T, TexGirl) so maybe we can get together for a cup of coffee or lunch in Canterbury after the holidays!

Small world. My husband is FROM Northampton but moved to Sittingbourne in his 30s. We're both "retired" now, whatever that means! We're busier than when we worked! I love Northampton and would move there in a heartbeat. I'm not in love with Kent, especially this part but apparently stuck here for life now. At least we have a lot of friends here and his grown children and grandchildren. Ah well, can't have it all, I suppose.
