Petrol prices

Hello all,

What is the average price of petrol per litre? Trying to figure out expenses. Thanks for your help!

83 pence per litre around here

which is 3.14 GBP per US Gallon (3.8754 litres)

which is $5.84 (1 pound = $1.86 at present)

Blimey.

I was on the Isle of Islay a couple of weeks ago, and paid 95p per litre!   

Do what my hubby did - get a job with a company car and all pertol, business AND personal paid for

That's  my number one favourite perk

Just a note of caution on company cars - they're a magnificent perk which was (note past tense) a great way for employers to provide their staff with a benefit in a tax effective way.  Now (present tense) the tax regime on company cars and also the tax regime on company-supplied fuel is set up so that the taxman gets his share and often more than his share.  I've got the option of having a company car and (if I want) fuel, but in practise it's been better to use my own car and claim back costs for business journeys.  Anyone who has the choice should look into their own circumstances because the decision will differ based on a number of factors and if you find a good scheme the taxman will probably change it to close the loophole next year anyway!

Hmmm the way ours is set up is we pay a certain set amount per month for the taxes, based on emissions, which is waaaaaaay less than the cost of what we would spend on personal fuel alone, let alone road tax, insurance, car maintence etc.  we could have paid less per month and not had the personal fuel included, just the business, but I think it was only a difference of 20 quid a month. This works out very well for us and makes it a lot easier to decide to drive all the way across the country for the weekend if we want too

if you shop around here, you can get 79p petrol...l stop comparing and converting the cost now...it just seems too high. The way i looked at it, it took me 10 mins (4 1/2 miles) to get to work while in the US, it took me 20 mins (12 miles) to get to work...oh well....you gain some, you lose some...
