Anyone travelled via Copenhagen airport?
« on: December 30, 2010, 02:14:30 PM »
Hi all,

I'm starting to look at ticket prices for my next (hopefully one-way) flight to Glasgow.  SAS appear to have added a Chicago-Glasgow route, and it's way cheap.  Cheaper than Aer Lingus, even.

The worrying part is that there's only 1h 20m to switch flights in Copenhagen.  In some airports (Amsterdam), that might be possible.  In others (Dublin) it's just not.

Has anyone flown via Copenhagen?  What was their security/passport control setup like?  How smoothly did transfers go?

Also, if anyone's had experience flying on SAS, I'd be interested.

Thanks!

A bit off topic but reasonably related:

Avoid transiting through Dublin at all costs when you're entering on a visa for the first time as you won't go through UK Immigration and it will cause you problems with extra documentation when applying for ILR & Naturalisation.

Transiting through Continental Europe is fine as you'll encounter UK Immigration when you land in the UK.

Yes, that's why I'm not flying with Aer Lingus.  Luckily, in this case, there's an even cheaper flight available, assuming that Copenhagen turns out to be a viable option.

Otherwise, if I have to fly KLM or another airline, the stupid hang-up with the CTA will be costing me an extra $300 or so. : /

I've flown via Copenhagen going the other way, Manchester to Seattle, and 1hour 20mins would've been more than enough.  I don't know how different it would be from Chicago to Glasgow.  What I've seen/experienced was very efficient, uncomplicated, and the staff were very helpful.  And my SAS flight was the best I've had yet.  (Better than BA, Air Canada, BMI, Delta, KLM, USAirways)  Best of luck to you!

And if you do fly SAS, watch for the bridge that disappears into the sea.  I wondered about that for ages before someone explained the tunnel at the end.   ::)
