They want to put us on CET (Central European Time), we are where we are on the planet, the Greenwich Meridian (the arbiter of time) is here, to think that we have the Greenwich Meridian and yet not to have GMT is preposterous!

I'm in the "giving up GMT is ridiculous" camp.

As for the people driving in the dark thing, here in the North Pole, in the dead of winter, assuming you work a standard 9-5, the sun doesn't rise till after you're at work and it's been down for a couple of hours before you leave so I don't really see what difference it makes which of those hours are day-lit and which aren't. As a non-morning person, I have a lot of trouble waking up before the sun rises but, like I said, that's happening anyway, and I could make better use of an hour of light in the afternoon than in the morning. But I don't think it's a serious issue because giving up GMT is ridiculous.
