I'm in the "giving up GMT is ridiculous" camp.
As for the people driving in the dark thing, here in the North Pole, in the dead of winter, assuming you work a standard 9-5, the sun doesn't rise till after you're at work and it's been down for a couple of hours before you leave so I don't really see what difference it makes which of those hours are day-lit and which aren't. As a non-morning person, I have a lot of trouble waking up before the sun rises but, like I said, that's happening anyway, and I could make better use of an hour of light in the afternoon than in the morning. But I don't think it's a serious issue because giving up GMT is ridiculous.
