phones at the embassy?
« on: January 16, 2011, 04:18:19 PM »
We have my son's appointment to report his birth on Weds and I am reading a lot of conflicting advice regarding the whole mobile phone, keys, bags issue.

I understand that they will not hold mobiles for visa applicants, but i have read that they will for people with US Citizen appointments.  My husband has to have his phone with him for work and can't leave it at home for a day.

Can anyone who has been recently clarify?

I would just phone the embassy, but they are closed on Monday and we have to head to London on Tuesday in the morning before the embassy opens.

Thanks in advance.

There are two seperate entrances to the Embassy. One is for American Citizen Services the other is for Visa Applicants. They will hold mobiles at the American Citizen Services entrance. They will not at the Visa Applicants entrance.

Just wanted to chime in in case there any people in Ireland lurking on this site and who may be using the US Embassy in Dublin. They hold phones for everyone, not just US citizens.

You can bring your phones cameras, they hold them for you at the front!

Thanks!  The website says that they won't hold for anyone, but that is obviously wrong!
