Do I have to wait to work?
« on: August 29, 2004, 02:37:28 AM »
Not sure if this is the right board?

When we move back to the UK will I have to wait to work?

We have been married 9 years. I remember hearing or reading that a two year wating period was standard. But in another post I had, was told that I should qualify for "permanment resident status" as we have been married fo this long. Would that mean I could work right away or not.

No, you won't have to wait.  Anyone who comes into the country on a spousal visa, irrespective if it's a 2 year spousal visa or an Indefinite Leave to Remain visa, can work immediately.  As you have been married for quite some time, what will happen is you will be granted Indefinite Leave to Remain straight off, rather than having to obtain the 2 year probationary spousal visa.
