General question about ILE
« on: January 27, 2011, 04:47:23 PM »
I have a general inquiry. My husband and I both live together in the US and have been since we were married. We are looking to apply once we hit our 4 yr anniversary so as to qualify for the ILE (I'm going to be making a visit first part of march next year to take the Life in the UK test). What we are wondering about is once we apply for the visas, can my husband go back over to the UK to try and setup housing/employment etc. Or if he applies for employment from here and gets hired and has to start before the visas are approved, and has to go back, will this cause an issue? In essence we still will be living together but I will remain here to wrap little things up while he sets up things over there. I know we have some time before any of this comes about, and things can and do change in the government, but as the laws currently are, would we run into problems?

Thanks for any input.
Even when life seems at it's most dark and despairing.. there is within the power to make change.

Back in Nov or early Dec there was someone posting on here that did what you were proposing - the UKC was in the UK for several months before the USC spouse came over on ILE. There are not many threads on ILE so if you search for that you should find their postings.

If you use priority processing today then you would likely get your ILE visa within three weeks of applying for it if your situation is straightforward.

However, who knows what immigration will look like in 2012. There is currently no long term stability to the system and a change of government created even less stability.
