Finally an introduction - from NYC living in Cambridge
« on: February 22, 2011, 04:17:55 PM »
I've posted a few times on this site over the past 18 months, and trolled a lot more, so thought I'd better properly say hi here since I've gotten so much useful information from everyone. :)

I am from NYC, wife is from Chicago. We live in Cambridge (for her PhD program) and have been there since September 2009. I also commute into London 2-3 days a week for work. I know there's a tendency to bash Cambridge (which in some ways it deserves) but we have really loved living there and would be happy to help anyone else considering a move to the area or just interested in visiting!

I can't even imagine why people would bash Cambridge, it's been pretty excellent to me so far.
Arrived 12 Oct 2010/Spousal Visa
Whole new world for a Southern gardener, but I'm very happy.

I can think of plenty,  ;) but there are good points as well.

It is not so much the fault of the city though.  For instance, it would have been nice if the local paper/police thought more of residents safety than reputation.  I would have liked to know that there is (or was, who knows!) a serial sex attacker targeting women for the last four months.

After the first two or three the pattern would have been pretty clear and maybe asking for witnesses through the paper four-ish months after the first attack isn't the best way to get clear recollections.

It also, of course, depends if you are connected to the University or not.
