Ground Cloves
« on: February 15, 2011, 02:07:10 PM »
I can't remember who was complaining that they couldn't find ground cloves anywhere (and even using the advanced search I can't seem to find what I'm looking for) but I found some at my local "health food" shop!  If you want a bag, PM me your address :)

Your local Indian grocery should have them, too, and probably cheaper!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Um, no they don't, which is why back before Christmas some of us were comiserating about the lack. Whole cloves, yes, ground, no.

Tesco does sell them. They're by Schwartz. Perhaps a smaller shop might not have them, but any good size supermarket ought to.

I think there were two issues at Christmas.

1. They were probably sold out because of the Christmas Cake obsession

2. They are often not in the spice section at Christmas because they have a separate section for baking usually a cardboard cut out or endcap.

Agreeing with Chary, Tesco has ground cloves.

And Indian stores do carry ground cloves as well.  Perhaps one you visited didn't, but generally, they do.

I think I was the one who was commiserating with you, noirem. I haven't found them since, but I also haven't been looking, either. ;)
