Not A Word....
« on: February 15, 2011, 12:55:38 AM »
Begin rant...

I have been waiting since last Wednesday for a confirmation email or ANYTHING from the British Consulate in LA. Waiting waiting waiting and still not a word. I know they have my supporting documents. USPS tracking has told me that much. My wedding is March 26th and I need to be in the UK by the first week of March in order to keep that wedding date. I sent the documents with Worldbridge's priority service. I have gone through all their hoops, crossed ever T and dotted every I... and all I can do is wait. I'm dieting for this wedding and I haven't seen my fiance or my dog (who I moved over to Liverpool in July) for 5 months! Things are not working out like they should be and I'm grumpy about it. Also, it's Valentines day and I can't have any chocolate... this is definitely a no good very bad day.

Rant over....

Maybe someone can comfort me by telling me they didn't receive any emails from the consulate. Their visa just came to them magically one day without warning.

Thanks for reading!

It doesn't happen often (thankfully), but it does happen that application received emails are not sent out. Seems to be more of an occurance at the LA Consulate than anywhere its...however, it means absolutley nothing.

You have your delivery confirmation and you know it's there so really there's nothing to stress over. Just ty to relax.

When I sent my documents to the LA consulate last year I went through the same thing as you when I didn't get an e-mail from them to say they had received my documents....so yes I stressed....alot......then one day I opened my email and lo and behold there was an email to me from the consulate telling me my visa had be approved...so my advise to you is take a deep breath and try to be relaxed and I know easier said than done but you will get that most important email of your life before you know it.......and your passport will come to u with that shiny new visa on its page the day or day after u get that email.....then on the day of your wedding you can have chocolate or whatever u want.....no one likes stress and it is alot harder on oldies like me but hang in there kid cause your dreams will come true soon.  ;D

I shall listen to lots of the Beatles today in hopes of lifting my spirits!

Beatlegirl85, I did my visa with the L.A. Embassy last year and had the same problem. I didn't do the priority (because the lawyers we worked with didn't tell us that was an option! So it's great you went with priority!) They work slow at that embassy! It took me 8 weeks (again, non-priority so don't stress!) to get my visa! So I really sympathize! It's stressful! But I tell you what, the end result was soo worth the wait!  [smiley=smitten.gif] Hang in there!!

After applying for three different visas, the first being a fiance visa from the LA consulate, the other two from within the UK for spousal and ILR, I have never received email notification, even though I provided my email address all three times.
13 Aug 08 Fiance Visa
17 Oct 08 married
06 May 09 FLR
15 Mar 2010 filed for ILR based on bereaved partner
02 Jul 2010 Received ILR!!!!!

I sent my visa app in (To NY) on a Thursday (Jan 6, 2011, iirc), and didn't hear anything from them until the 14th of Jan, and that was the standard "We have received your application and it has been assigned to a case worker". Maybe yours is just sitting in an inbox and not yet assigned. I don't think they sent the receipt email until it's assigned to a caseworker.
