Cornwall!!!  It's gorgeous, there are amazing B&Bs and you can visit beaches, go on cool walks, etc.  Totally a great place for an England honeymoon.

There are so many nice places to go here in country!  Maybe if we had an idea about what your interests are (culture, museums, history, outdoorsy, beaches, etc) - we could better advise you on something to suit?

I agree with onetiger that Cornwall is would be a great choice!  We also just got back from a week's holiday at the seaside in Pembrokeshire, Wales (ok that's not England but still here in the UK), and I think we enjoyed that even more than when we went to Cornwall - but maybe it had to do with that we had much better weather this time too.

Many other lovely places to go in the UK as well - places in Scotland, Northumberland coast, lots of nice places in Yorkshire, Bath is great for a long weekend getaway (lovely spa there!).

What time of year are you going?  What sort of things are you interested in seeing & doing?

A girl I work with got married today and is having her honeymoon in the Lake District. I think they were just renting a private cottage in the area. I've not been, but I've only heard good things about it!

Why only England? Budget?   Tons and tons of lovely places to visit within the UK-  What are you into doing? Sightseeing?  Lounging around enjoying each other's company  ;) and/or just lounging around? Shopping?  Historic places?

Hello ladies, well we won't be getting married til around Nov or Dec, still awaiting my visa decision.  Since I will be married on a Fiancee Visa, we can't leave England till my right to remain happens, so we are honeymooning within England.  Considering the time of year it is, well not sure what is available.  My fiancee has given me some ideas but love to hear from you ladies that have already done this.

Our interests are medieval/gothic type places. Love the old ways. Possibly a castle?  We are just going to go away for a weekend.  Later next year when warm going abroad.

Can't wait to hear from you all again. ;D

What about the moors up around Yorkshire, ie Bronte sisters country? I've never been but I imagine it's pretty gothic, and nice and foggy in the wintertime.

Our interests are medieval/gothic type places.

I'd suggest Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast - very gothic.

If it's just a weekend, and in winter, well I'd want to go somewhere cozy with a nice big bath, open fire in a pub, that sort of thing & just hole up for the weekend - especially considering it's your honeymoon.  ;)

HG is correct - the whole of the UK is open to you, not just England, so you could go to Wales or Scotland too.  :)

What were your fiance's suggestions?  Maybe we can weigh in on that.

Let's not forget Northern Ireland is a part of the UK, too!  ;)

If you like castles, go to Wales. There are BILLIONS of them and some have accommodation. We spent our honeymoon here, but they only do week (or two week) bookings, not just weekends. Also, it sleeps 12, so isn't very cost-effective for just a couple. We had loads of friends and relatives to stay with us so it worked well.

We did, however, spend a weekend here one winter and it was gorgeous. We had a huge four-poster bed, our own little breakfast room with an open fire, etc. It was lovely. I'm generally not a big fan of north Wales because I find it a little bleak but, face it, just about anywhere stands a good chance of being bleak in the winter. Cosiness goes a long way, and Gwydir was definitely cosy!

I'm going to have to agree with onetiger and everyone above, Cornwall is absolutely lovely!

However if you are interested in castles, I highly recommend Scotland. I went for a family trip and we stayed in a castle and it was absolutely fantastic.

I also recommend Wigborough Manor in Somerset. Lovely historic manor house, that functions as a B&B. The often have polo games going on, farming, and a lovely village among other things.
