DCF and a few other queries.
« on: May 03, 2011, 01:31:36 PM »
It has been a long time since I have been on here but has been great to read how many people have made the move! But having been together more than 6 months now in the UK we have made the decision we would be better off in America and so now the whole process starts once more...slightly less daunting this time!

So the first question is when to apply. The conditions say that it has to be after six months however we want to factor in the IR-1 not the CR. So we were thinking from everything we have read thus far that we could:

- Apply via DCF about August or maybe earlier next year.
- The interview would probably then be just after January 21st which is when we were married so then on entry to the US I would be granted an IR not CR visa?

Am I right in thinking the current processing time for DCF is around 10 months?

Yet another question is about the joint sponsor, does it help to have more than one and can you have a sponsor with no income but can use their house as assets? Also if it is the case of just assets both for the sponsor or for ourselves, is it 5x the poverty?

I am pretty sure we have a thousand more queries but these seem to be on our mind the most right now, if anyone can give any insight it would be grand.

Thanks! : )

Ps. One more query is the Medical, how do I know which ones I need as the vaccination chart seems hard to read. Do I only needs the ones where it says 18+ yes?

We had two but the embassy official didn't even look at the second's paperwork, said it wasn't needed unless the first one "failed".

Thanks for the reply, we are getting/reading so much conflicting information, one person saying you can't have two joint sponsors and another saying you can. A good thing we are researching this a year in advance just to get to the truth of things!

We are still no more further forward on a lot of our queries : (
