A rather delayed update (due to no internet and no forseen internet at my flat in the near future), but the delivery went great. I received a call the night before notifying me of the time the delivery would be and the truck showed up within that 4-hour window. Two guys brought all of our boxes up to the second floor. The whole process probably took 5 minutes. It was great!  :D

Yeah, I missed this thread as I was in the US, but yeah, the delivery service has been great every time I've used it.  Much better than trying to lug things on the Tube as we may have done once or twice.  ::)

ETA: We used the Croyden service to a SW postcode.  I can't remember if it was free or if we paid a small fee, but I know it usually goes by distance.

Croydon to SW4 for up to £500 is £40 and £45 for £501 to £2000. They have a list on the site for that store giving the pricing bands and time lines for various post codes.

We're closer to Croydon than Clahm.  Looking at the site, Zone A, so it was probably £30.  Considering I fell down the escalator the last time we tried to lug our stuff home on our own, well worth it, IMO.  ;)

It was well worth it for my delivery, too, as I had 14 pieces for them to drop off. Even gave them a bit of a tip for doing it in crummy weather, lugging things up two flights of stairs, and putting things in different rooms. The only problem was that the delivery window shifted from 10-2 to 2-6 (called at noon to change it) and it was 7 by the time they showed up. I'm chalking it up to horrendous Saturday traffic, as they were quite efficient about bringing things up.

I'm researching the whole IKEA thing myself and am following everyone's responses.
I'm sure the mileage will vary, but has anyone used the Assembly services? I'm sure it varies from not just location but from handyman to handyman. Any feedback on paid assembly services?

Hi, I have just arrived into the UK and am facing the same issues an empty flat that needs an Ikea makeover, i stumbled across this great site when looking for ikea home delivery options, thanks for the usefull information, has anyone used delivery auction sites at all over here and have any information, I am looking at a site called newcomer link: http://www.anyvan.com [nonactive] basically from what i can see i can use couriers / man and van services that are already going to my pick up point and fill up their empty return vehicle with my items for a super low rate which sounds great in principle, does anyone have any good experiences or advice on this company anyvan

I've not used this before, but my boyfriend has.  I don't know much about it, but he was happy with the service that was provided, and says he would do it again.  Sorry that's not much help..
