How do I get rid of my stuff?
« on: June 02, 2011, 08:34:54 AM »
Hi all,
Sadly, we will be moving back to the US on July 31st.
We bought new dishes, sheets, towels, bedding, spices, pots, pans when we came here one year ago, which I don't want to take back.  At home, I would post on craigslist, but it doesn't seem as big here, and more London-centric (I am in Bath).  How do people get rid of their "stuff"?  Especially since I will need to use them right up until the end.

You could try Freecycle. I know when I moved to Bath I used it quite a bit for that kind of stuff. They have a pretty decent community for it there. We're getting ready to move and I'm putting sheets and bedding into those clothes recycling bins (often found near glass recycling). And of course there are charity shops. They would be good for dishes and pots and pans. I'm giving some of my more pricey spices to friends, but the rest will be thrown away.  :-\\\\

Awww, times flies when you're having fun, huh?    :(
I'd say try Gumtree, Ebay, Carboot sales, Freegle and you can also post on here on the classified as as well.

DH is dealing with the same thing right now.  The weather hasn't been good for a car boot.  He forgot to put a notice on the board at Sainsburys.  He needs to make a delivery to the charity shop.  But he's running out of time.
I'm biting my tongue to keep from saying "I told you not to wait til the last minute!"   ;)
