Hi everyone!
« on: July 06, 2011, 09:29:51 AM »
Hey all!

I've been in the UK for a month now and it's great that I found this forum. There is a lot of good information and advice here that I think will be really helpful.

I'm here in the UK to get my PhD in Biomedical and Life Sciences. I study sandflies (a small type of fly that carries the parasite Leishmania). I have moved from Huntington Beach, CA to Lancaster. Lancaster is a really pretty town.

I've been a bit homesick but the people who have let me a room here are really nice and I'm very slowly starting to make new friends.

I'm excited to have found this forum and it's really nice to meet you all ^__^.
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Welcome...and I wish I hadn't googled Leishmania. Hope you find a cure/prevention!
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

Hello, and welcome!
β€œIt was when I realised I had a new nationality: I was in exile. I am an adulterous resident: when I am in one city, I am dreaming of the other. I am an exile; citizen of the country of longing.” ― Suketu Mehta.

Married 04/13/11, in NYC.
Applied for Spouse Visa the following week, with express service, and I was approved 4 days later!
Arrived in the UK 05/20/11.
I took the stupid LIUK Test Oct. 2012.
We were granted ILR In Person in Croydon on 04/23/13.
Got BRP 2 days later, in mail box - it just appeared.
