Can anyone help us find this deli in Miami
« on: May 10, 2003, 12:41:16 AM »
We were staying in south beach a while back and found this great eating
place, specializing in huge salads and subs (Maybe 24/7)

All I can remember is that it was a long wooden building with the
counter/bar running on 2 sides, the customer would have to sit outside on
bar stools, The place is between a gas station or car park and on the other
side there was a tattoo parlor and a Mexican restaurant, This place is on a
street between Washington and Collins maybe around 8th street. Any ideas,
Could you forward a name, address or web site or whatever as the place was
fantastic and I want to send some friends there, any help appreciated.
Thanks

???

OK.  Might be able to help a little bit but it's been 9 years since I lived on South Beach.  I think the street you are describing is 14th Street which runs between Washington and Collins.  I don't remember this restaurant though as it's probably new.  I do know the Mex restaurant and tattoo parlour next to each other and I recall some kind of gas station or something on the corner too. The best thing on 14th street though is my favorite bar in the whole world - Macs Club Deuce.  So send your friends to that bar too... a bit seedy but fantastic vibe.

I believe you are talking about (at least it used to be called) La Sandwicherie, which is on 14th street between Washington and Collins.  As NYinBrighton said, it's by Lou's tattoos and the Mexican place is San Loco, where I used to work, and it is across the street from the Deuce bar, which is indeed the coolest bar in the world.  Back when I was a happenin' single gal, I was there every weekend and sometimes during the week too!

You should be able to ask just about anyone where the Deuce is, and La Sandwicherie is right across the street.
