Visa - Tier 4 Application Premium Service
« on: June 13, 2011, 07:16:30 PM »
Does anyone have any insight as to whether the Premium application appointment service through Worldbridge is worthwhile for Tier 4 Student (& Dependant) applications? I'm desperate to get our visas taken care of ASAP but am still waiting on some documents, so I think it'd be worthwhile to find out the results in the same day. I'm wondering, though, with the streamlined lowrisk nationality changes by the UKBA going into effect on July 4 if this will change the benefits of this at all? Any thoughts?

Summer is a busy time for the consulate so I don't know how long it will take to process a normal t4 application. I have used premium in the past and have always recommend it. I mean when I applied there was appointment available the day after my biometrics. My passport with visa was return to me in the afternoon of the day I submitted it. The whole process was relatively smooth and stress free
Sept 2, online application
Sept 9, biometrics appointment, purchased priority & sent package to UK Consulate NYC
Sept 12, package delivered 9 am, email of receipt @2:56pm NY Time
Sept 15, passport arrived in the post with visa.

I chose priority since my Uni told me that the average time for Tier 4 right now is 10-15 days. Unfortunately, the holiday weekend is here, so I will not be able to give you a clear idea of exactly how long the priority takes, but I overnighted my application yesterday, they sent me an email stating that they received it today and that since it is priority I will get emails updating me on the progress (one when it is being reviewed by an Entry Clearance Officer and another when a decision has been made) and that it typically takes 48 hours or so if everything goes smoothly. Exceptionally, it will take longer than 48 hours. I think it will be worth it given what panda said- it's a busy time for Tier 4 applications and I want to purchase a plane ticket ASAP- two weeks can make a difference in ticket price.

So, I received notice today at 10:30 my time (11:30 New York time) about my visa. Unfortunately, I had a weekend and holiday thrown in there, but still, that was worth the extra $150! Four days instead of a week or two!
