From sunny CA to...sunny England?
« on: June 02, 2011, 10:45:20 PM »
Wow!  It was gorgeous out today!  Definitely the best day I have had here so far.  I am looking forward to a lovely, 70* weekend!!

HI!!!  My name is Jennifer and my husband David and I just moved to Oxford with our two little ones (3 and 19m).  We are here for my hubby's job; under a 37 month work permit, but we'll see what happens!

We have been here almost 4 weeks and are started to feel a bit more settled.  It definitely is a different way of life over here!  Doing laundry for a family of four (with two toddlers) and having to hang it to dry is definitely the toughest part of my new job...

I'm looking forward to connecting with other Americans in the area if there are any.  I am a SAHM and am always up for a playdate/coffee date!

Welcome NMO,
Good job in finding this forum - they have been a lifesaver for me.
I would have loved to meet you for coffee, but am heading back to CA soon (San Jose).  Was just in Oxford on Tues!

Enjoy your time here - mine went by way too fast.

Wow!  I am so sad that we missed each other by a few days.  It would have been wonderful to pick your brain and hear the tales of someone about to end their journey here, while I am just beginning.

I just checked out your blog.  I am really looking forward to reading all about your adventures!!

I'm just about to head out on another trip - Greece/Poland/France - for a few weeks, but feel free to PM me any time.  I will be checking email regularly.

Thanks for reading my blog!  My readership must be up to ....3? :)

Hi there!

We (my husband & our 3 small kiddos) are moving to Oxford (from York) at the beginning of August.  I am from sunny southern california as well, and have lived in the UK for nearly 7 years.  I have just joined today, as we just returned from a two week california holiday and I am missing it!

I would love to meet up in August when we are settled in.

Jennifer-
I think we may have already crossed paths on NetMums! My husband and I just moved to Newbury (about 45 mins south of Oxford) with our 2yr9mo old daughter. We've only been here one full week, but I'm hoping to find a direct bus to Oxford soon, for an occasional change of scenery (at this point I've discovered I'm not ready to drive!).  When we make it up there I'll be sure to PM you for a potential meet-up! Maybe when gooober arrives!

Hi Goober and Maureen!
M-I think I just sent you a netmum note yesterday!  lol
I kinda forgot that I had joined this site and hadn't been on here in a while.  I'll have to change my settings so that I get emails when someone replies to my thread.  I also have the car most days, so if you want we can come to you sometime...

G-would love to get together when you get here.  Keep us posted on your arrival!!

Thanks for the notes!!

Hi there. I'm a SAHM to a 3 year old boy, originally from CA and now living just outside Reading. I've been here for just over 5 years now.

We take the train into Oxford every so often to go to the Natural History and Science museums or just wander around (its only a 20 minute train journey from here). Always happy to meet up for a cup of coffee and a chat or a playdate with the kiddos.

Welcome!
