Having Trouble getting a document notarized? Advice

I have a standard, normal legal document that I need to have notarized, so I went to the bank to get it done.  Well, I was flat told, 'I am not signing that'... I asked why..... bank lady said 'It isnt on letterhead'  I told her that of course not it is a legal document to go to the court and it would not be on letterhead.  Bank lady then tells me 'I dont know what this this'.  So, I attempted to explain it. (it is a half page double spaced document).  Bank lady still refused.

So, what are my chances of finding someone who will notarize it?  Anyone had this problem?

What kind of document? what will it be used for? I think this will play a part on "who" will do it.

It is a Waiver of Notice document for Probate Court.  Basically it says that I do not need to be notified of everything taking place/dont send me notices of proceedings.  Nothing that I am aware (being physical items only to probate) of is to come my way from the estate of deceased.

It is half page, standard document, that basically speeds up the Probate process b/c they dont have to send out all the notices and such.

I talked to a law firm yesterday that might sign it, but there is a min charge of £120.00 (ouch).

Are there places/businesses that typically do notary services to the public.

I had trouble with this myself. The best I could find was £80 minimum charge plus £20/sheet there after. Major ouch!

Not free of charge.  Everytime I have ever heard of a document being notarized in the UK, there has always been a hefty fee attached to it.

Agreed and DH always had to use a solicitor.
