Bluegrass lass make sure that you check out the Petscheme website because if you will be flying into Manchester as we will, fortunately that's our final destination, there are only a few approved routes from the US that they can fly into Manchester from. One is on Delta from Atlanta and the others escape me at the moment AND you also have to be on the flights with them. Personally, I feel that from Manchester transferring them to another flight may in fact be the best for them overall because it is quite a long trip to Scotland (depending on your final destination) from Manchester and it will probably be faster and more comfortable overall to fly them. The sooner they can get out of the crates the better I think. Another point is that there are several of the Pet relocation companies that will help you with only what you actually need and will charge accordingly so it worthwhile to check it out. There is like a one stop shop website for Pet Relocation that has almost every Pet Relocation company's links as well as testimonials and links to travel crates etc. Try to check it out maybe on Google. I think it's not a matter of not being willing or able to do the legwork it's what you are comfortable doing.

Thanks Cwids. I thought the same thing as you and that I didn't want them to be confined to their crates for any longer than necessary. However, from what my OH and FIL have said, it is only about a 3hr drive, give or take, to where we will be moving to on the west coast. So an airplane may not get us there any quicker. Going to Manchester helps because my OH can more easily drive down there to meet me to help with the luggage and animals. Otherwise I'll be stuck handling loads of luggage and 2 cats!  :-\\\\

The other air route is from Newark on Continental airlines. I think this is who we'll be going with as I hate Atlanta's airport. Not to mention, given the time of year we are trying to fly them over, it will still be very hot in Atlanta and I hope Newark will be somewhat cooler. I am flying from Louisville, KY and it will likely be warm enough here in early Sept, so I don't want to fly them anywhere even further South. Esp since I have read that airlines put embargos in place and will not fly animals if it is too warm for them.

Do you know if Manchester will accept animals on a Saturday? I've not been able to find that info anywhere.
