Hello and a little help :)
« on: July 09, 2011, 03:10:01 AM »
Hello all!

I am planning a short term stay for about 5 months from Jan - July 2012 before I start Grad school here in the US in the fall.  I am super excited and have been planning this since I was like 10!

I am only planning on bringing like 2 suitcases and a carry on bag so I should be ok with closet space haha. And I am hoping with my grad school app in hand and some good money in the US bank I'll be ok at Customs (fingers crossed!).

I do have a question on my living situation.

I am hoping to do a flat share or short term let.  I have read a few posts that say to wait until I get there to find a place.  Any additional feedback on that is awesome.  Also about how long might it take me to find a place and where's the best place to stay in the interim?

I want to live in Bath, btw, ha that might help.

Any help or other just comments and introductions are welcome!

Thanks
Elizabeth

I was just in Bath, for a day trip, and it is lovely. There are lots of students there. Check Fridayad, and Gumtree, and maybe craigslist, for shares.
It should be fairly easy to find housing....

Married 04/13/11, in NYC.
Applied for Spouse Visa the following week, with express service, and I was approved 4 days later!
Arrived in the UK 05/20/11.
I took the stupid LIUK Test Oct. 2012.
We were granted ILR In Person in Croydon on 04/23/13.
Got BRP 2 days later, in mail box - it just appeared.

Another good website for flat shares is  http://www.spareroom.co.uk/ or http://www.flatshare.com/. Good luck!
