Hi,
Although i've been missing the US since I moved, i've coped really well however recently we visited Arizona where my family is retiring to and are seriously thinking of moving back.
I've been reading all of the information but I don't know if I need to include my children in numbers (on form I-130 and affadavit support) as they are dual citizens and I'm a US citizen. Technically it's only my husband immigrating as he is a UK citizen.
Also - really confused by the poverty line. What figure do we need to have? And as I live in the UK and have no US income - do i need an additional sponsor?
Any advice would be helpful.
Hello tobidanette.
I found a lot of answers to those same questions on the britishexpats.com site. Look under the USA tab.
Your I-130 only concerns your husband, but may ask for info on your children. Yes, you would have to include them on your I-864 (Support) to show you can support your household over there (3 x poverty level for family number including yourself). However, this does not come into play if you have a job you are going to in the US, which pays more than the poverty level per year. I, personally, have also used a joint sponsor (my father-USC) because he can cover the yearly requirement and has US domicile.
It can be quite confusing but hang in there and sort through the information. It took me awhile to take it all in...Btw, the process with DCF filling is now taking up to 10 months, so it would be good to get it started asap, otherwise you might be seperated for awhile until he gets approved. Although, you can always wait with him!
Good luck.
