Hi,

My name is Dan and I'm from Sunderland, in the North East of England.  I've just moved to Durham and have an 8-year-old daughter.

I met my American girlfriend online in November 2010.  Neither of us were looking but we hit it off immediately and since then have chatted almost every day, either by phone or Skype, usually for hours at a time.  The time difference is a bit of a pain, but I'm used to having late nights :)

We've visited each other and I'm going back to the US in September to get married!  We're then hoping she can move to the UK by the end of 2011.

I'm amazed at how quickly things have progressed and I know it might seem a little crazy to some people, but it absolutely feels like the right thing to do.  I'm usually pretty conservative and friends might think it's totally out of character for me, but I'm completely in love with her and she makes me so happy.  She's the most amazing person I've ever met - I can't wait until she moves over here and the rest of our lives together can begin :)

Welcome to the forum, Dan!

Get your fiancee on the forum, too -- she'll have lots and lots of questions that UK-Y will help her answer. Not just visa and whatnot, but day to day things like shopping and cooking.

I'm British and married my American wife in the US in Sept 2008, we had all the paperwork through that she was able to move to the UK about 4 weeks later, so she should be able to move in the timeframe you want.
Like you, some people thought we were crazy but 3 years on it's the best thing for both of us.

I hope everything runs smoothly and that you can be reunited w/o issue.

(I believe 1 out of every 4 relationship now started online?)
