Olympics 2004
« on: August 20, 2004, 07:33:30 PM »
I loved the opening ceremony. I thought it was very well played out although a couple of people I've spoken with thought it was stupid.

I've just been on the website and found out that as of today we're number one in both having the most gold medals and having the most medals. Whee hee!

I feel so proud.

Does anyone else feel competetive when they see the Olympics?

Michael Phelps, who is on the verge of tying the all time record for number of medals in a single games is a Baltimore boy!  Oh, I'm so proud of the lad  :D
It is nice to see Britain is doing pretty well, picking up a couple of gold medals recently in cycling and sailing and some silver and bronzes elsewhere.  But yeah, it's great to see the Americans doing well, those Chinese were being annoying with all their golds for a while there.

I haven't caught as much of the games as I usually do, but I am enjoying what I do get to watch.  I enjoyed watching the womens' gymnastics last night and seeing the American take the gold for the all around for the first time since MaryLou Retton did it (20 years ago :o  And, yes...THAT made me feel old....since, I watched her do that....~~sigh~~ I was 10).

I liked the opening ceremonies....but getting through that Greek alphabet was a bit tiring. ::)

The rowing was magnificent!  1 gold, 2 silvers and 1 bronze!  Way to go Team GB!!!

And, yes, I was thrilled for the US to win in the 8-man race.

My heart broke for Paula Radcliffe, though... :\\\'(

US Women's Football team with the Gold - AGAIN!  Yipee!

And Kelly Holmes is going to take the gold again, I know it.

And as much as I'm not a boxing fan-I think it's 6:30 tonight.  He's doing really well.   :)

I know - I'm almost inspired.  I was so inspired last week I actually got up and...mowed the lawn!  ::)

Yeah, I'm not into boxing either but that Khan kid is amazing!  And I will NOT argue about another medal for Team GB!  ;)

;D  Yep, watched him do it.  Loved the way he came back from behind at the end and just didn't let up 'til it was all over!

I live close enough to Tonbridge that I was very tempted to take today off and watch the open-top bus parade for Kelly Holmes...really so proud of Team GB - and 2008 is only going to be better!!! ;D

I found it interesting, however, that the US women's basketball team got gold and the men's barely managed bronze...and the US didn't even QUALIFY in BASEBALL... :o

Yes, but the US got the most gold and the most medals than anyone. Whoo hoo! I was gloating at work all week.
