Online currency exchange

Hello,

Hubby and I are traveling to USA around Christmas (cant wait to go back for a visit!) and we are looking into exchanging GBP to USD for the trip.  A friend of mine once told me about online companies that will let you order your holiday money now at a fixed exchange rate for a trip a few months away. 

I was just wondering if anyone had tried this?

I haven't heard of ordering for a future date and not paying for it.

We just ordered US dollars and they delivered the next day from http://www.iceplc.com/  Good rate and excellent service!

I think the service I had heard of required you to pay now at a fixed rate for delivery closer to trip but I just read on money saving expert that this might not be a good idea at the moment as the money would be lost if the company went bust between now and then.
