My fiancĂ©e sometimes self-censors when she's talking to me, like pronouncing tomato the British way or saying "car park" instead of "parking lot" :)  She really doesn't need to because (a) I totally understand the American versions and don't find it confusing, and (b) I kinda like her Americanisms ;)
Met JessM online: 06 November 2010
I visited the US: 27 April 2011
She visited the UK: 30 June 2011
Married: 29 September 2011
Visa application submitted: 18 October 2011
Visa issued: 20 October 2011
She moved to the UK: 02 December 2011

I guess you have to hit the notification button every time, huh???

::) Ah, the joys of technology...

curts - thanks for the alternative, but that adds about 30 miles to the trip (I know, so picky), so I might just pass - sadly, I'm the right side of Oxford to commute to Reading (ish), but not the right side for Slough, even though they're pretty close to one another  :(  I still hope and dream that the perfect tax accountant's job will come up in Oxford (of course, with the non-existant American company that requires regular trips back).

I do find that I try to moderate the accent for the audience - so when I interviewed with the Canadian head office for my job, I tried to be more American (or moderated American - you know how people can be... ahem), whilst when I'm speaking to my daughter I try to pronounce things in my best Oxbridge accent!

The secretary in my last office was a Brit who emmigrated, then came back for a brief spell - it was so nice to hear her :)
