You can move in dec but your kitten will go into six month quarantine. The UK only allows certain airlines to carry animals into the country. Google the "PETS scheme".

Or read this thread and this thread.

You can move in dec but your kitten will go into six month quarantine.

According to DEFRA, once it becomes January 1, the 21-day wait will be in place. I'm not sure if that means that if your pet has already been in quarantine for 21 days, they'll be released immediately, or if they'll be released on January 22, but either way, it would be a lot less than 6 months. :)

If you could wait to move your kitten over until January 1, though, you'd be fine, as the 6-month waiting period will be gone.

If I can wait I will try to wait until Jan. 1

Its not that I don't trust my parents but my mom hates pets lol (i currently stay with her) so i don't want her to have to deal with everything that goes into taking care of my kitten if i was to leave it behind and ship it later... and i also wouldnt want my mom to deal with this whole process.

Are you sure they didn't mean pets aren't allowed IN the cabin for travel? I  know the UK doesn't allow ANY airline to bring pets into the country with them coming in the cabin (they have to fly cargo).

No, she means they're not allowed. Not only does DEFRA have special rules about how the animals are transported, they have specific airlines that you're allowed to fly with. American doesn't appear to be on their list at all.

That's odd. I swore I saw some AA flights when I looked - but I'll be coming from Atlanta, so from there only Delta or BA. I could be wrong though.
