Melancholia

I saw this at a charity benefit thingie; I'm not sure I got the deep meaning of it.  A girl makes a total dog's breakfast of her wedding, her husband leaves her, she loses her job, and lo and behold: it *WAS* the end of the world.  For her and everybody else.

But what I liked is all the way through the movie, the music was taken from Richard Wagner's 'Tristan and Isolde', and I studied that opera off and on for about 3 years.  Named my son after it in fact.

So if you like a sound track of *heavy* romantic mood, this movie is the one to see.

Funny that you posted this!  My partner and I went and watched it on Sunday night and while I was less than impressed with Trier's "Antichrist", this one was really good.  Kirsten Dunst was amazing in her role and my partner, who is an actor, commented that he saw her in a new light and respect because of it.  Many may not get the acting because a lot of it is improvised, but I think it helps keep the movie a bit more real, if that's possible in an apocolyptic movie!  And I'll have to agree, the music is outstanding as well.
