NJ to Manchester! - I hope!
« on: August 18, 2011, 08:06:54 AM »
Hello everyone!

My UK husband and I married last week. We are now preparing to apply for a settlement visa. I'm also the mother of three girls who will be coming over with me.

I'm less nervous about living in England than I am about the visa process. All of my husband's family and friends are great and welcomed me with open arms. There is certainly an adjustment between two countries, but I appreciate and love both of them!

I hope to find some support as I panic through the very expensive visa process and find friends as I adjust to English life. :)

married my love: August, 12, 2011
received passport with changed surname: September 1
online application: September 4
priority service, biometrics, & USPS Express: September 7
received & processing email: September 8 (3:28pm EST)
visa approved: September 14 (3:15pm EST)
moved to the UK: October 2011
IRL granted: Feb 2014
naturalisation: April 2015

Hi,
Welcome to UKY! What part of NJ are you from (my parents live in Monmouth County- on the shore) Hopefully you will find in the end the visa process is relatively painless (although expensive :) )

Hello and welcome!! I'm from NJ as well! Hunterdon County originally, but I spent my last 4 years in Middlesex County before I moved here.

Congratulations on the marriage and good luck with your move!  :)

Welcome!  I'm not a NJ native, but I did finish high school in Mays Landing and went to college in north NJ.

How are you going to import new issues of Weird NJ?

Welcome to the forum! The visa process certainly is daunting. I'm finally coming to the end of it and glad to be through.

Thank you for the welcoming!

I'm in Atlantic County and will be moving to Higher Broughton, not at all far from Prestwich.

I don't know how I'll import Weird NJ. I'm still trying to figure out how to import the entire Jersey Shore. I'm going to miss the beaches and boardwalk a lot!

Nice to see so many others in the Manchester area!

Just saw all the other native New Jerseyans pipe up on here, so I figured I'd chime in to represent Camden County!

Wishing you a stress-free visa application :)

Congratulations!

I was married August 11th, and I am also preparing to apply for settlement. I'm from the NJ Shore area and preparing to move to the Liverpool area. Maybe I'll see you on the plane ;). I will be applying in two weeks (hopefully). Do you need any help with your application? I'm not an expert but I've got A LOT of links.

Best wishes in your new marriage!  I married in 2009, so have already been through the process of updating my immigration status. Only one thing left for me now, and that's Permanent Status in 2012. They sure do make a lot of money off us!  Glad to see another eastcoast American. Hope you settle in okay.
