As in detergent?

Bio means there's a biological/enzyme element which simply (to me) means that my clothes get VERY clean.  Even blood stains and red wine come out with no problem.

However, it can be irritating to sensitive skin - hence, non-bio alternatives.

Not very detailed or scientific, but does that help at all?

I use bio for my husband's clothes : he works with robots and machinery and gets coolant & all sort of other industrial crap on him, and the Bio stuff works it out like a charm.

I use non-bio (I love the fiary non bio) on my clothes because using bio makes me itch. It is more sensitive, and doesn't contain the same enzymes (the bio part).
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

As this is in food talk, I think she may be referring to bio and non-bio as in like yogurt?

Well, I thought that, too - but I don't recall seeing specifically "non-bio" yogurt?

Yea, but then why post something about detergent, a non-food item, in Food Talk?

Dunno - I thought maybe because you buy detergent at the grocery store?  ::)

Alright, alright, stop talking about me like I'm not here!
 ;)

Apologies for the confusion... I did mean it generally; those are the two places I've seen the term used:  laundry and yogurt.... hmmm.

But it certainly clears up why my clothes suddenly don't seem quite so clean as when I used a 'bio' one!

Thank you for explaining!

actually it's counter-intutive. Bio detergent is les eco-friendly, while bio-yoghurt has fewer artifical preservatives.

And, I can clear up the yogurt!  ~~here she comes to save the day!~~ ;D

LOL....anywho....

The bio - in regards to yogurt - is refering to the active yogurt cultures.  That's the good stuff - the stuff you want to be in there in abundance -  because that is GOOD BACTERIA that keeps your body in balance.  It's good for digestion and for general health.

You can also soak pans that won't come clean in bio detergent and they come out looking like new.... Not particularly eco-friendly, but useful in extreme circumstances!  ;)

At the moment we live with my fiances parents (until next tuesday  ;D) and she always uses non-bio and no stains ever come out of my clothes, it's very frustrating.... I never knew what the difference was with bio and non-bio so that helps  :)
