Los Angeles to London
« on: September 19, 2011, 07:16:21 PM »
Hey all, I've been a member of the forum for some months now, mostly lurked, but since my move to London is drawing near I thought I'd officially introduce myself.

I'm a 25 year old native Angeleno moving to London to live my Scottish girl friend. Last April I applied for a British passport (I'm British by descent) and it arrived in August after much delay. Purchased my one way plane ticket several weeks later and I depart this Sunday.

I'm equal parts nervous and excited! Trading blue skies for grey and Mexican food for Indian. Looking forward to networking with fellow expats and making new friends :)

Congrats! I'm leaving for London from LA next month. Definitely going to be weather shock seeing as how gorgeous it is here now.

Don't worry, you'll miss Mexican, but there are Baja Fresh type places there to cover your cravings. There's even Chipotle. Not the same, I know.

Wow, almost five months to get your UK passport? That's a heck of a wait.  Good luck with your London move!  I've only been here for a week, and I'm already craving margaritas. :)

dels, thanks, yea I heard about the Chipotle openings. I'm exicted about that! A pipe dream of mine is to open up a Mexican restaurant in London  ;D

jillianbean, I applied for it right in the midst of the passport processing services being moved from D.C. to London. A large backlog of applications also contributed to the delay.

Congrats and hello! I'm leaving from LA to London (and then Somerset) this Wednesday! Super nervous and can't wait.
In 900 years of time and space, I've never met anyone who wasn't important.

Best wishes to you as well. I'm mostly nervous about the employment situation there!
