Hello, everyone!  I'm quite excited to have found this place.

My name is gwendolyn, and about 4 years ago, I moved from the lovely state of Maryland to the UK.  I spent my first year in the UK in Cambridge while earning my master's degree, then moved to the Watford area for work and have been here ever since.  I am a teacher at a special needs high school, teaching music and whatever else my school asks me to teach (this year it is quite the assortment of subjects!).  I love my job, but sometimes it's quite difficult.

About a year and a half ago, I got married to a wonderful British guy from the lovely seaside town of Scarborough.  Since we live a couple hundred miles away from his family and friends and a few thousand miles away from mine, it's been a challenge sometimes since we are missing that support network.

I am hoping this board will help with the homesickness that I get from time to time, and perhaps (if there are ever meet-ups) introduce me to some nice, friendly people.  Also, I look forward to sharing my experiences in case they might help others who are going through similar situations.

Thanks for reading!  See you around.  :)

I'm originally from MD, but have been living in New York.  We'll be neighbors, I'm going to Borehamwood!

Hello and welcome, Gwendolyn. My mother taught special ed for years (and had the scars to prove it).

I'm way down on the South coast, but there are plenty of forum members in London and thereabouts. And the forum itself is a great help.

Hi Gwendolyn! Welcome.

I met my husband working for FL Easter Seals Camp Challenge. All for people of special needs.  He came over as a camp counsellor.  We loved it.  Hope the site helps.  It has helped me loads already.
