Getting citizenship through family is easier than through the spouse visa, because you are automatically permanent. You do not have to apply and pay later for ILR.
So, GO FOR IT!!!!!
And YAY for all those who helped you on here!
β€œIt was when I realised I had a new nationality: I was in exile. I am an adulterous resident: when I am in one city, I am dreaming of the other. I am an exile; citizen of the country of longing.” ― Suketu Mehta.

Married 04/13/11, in NYC.
Applied for Spouse Visa the following week, with express service, and I was approved 4 days later!
Arrived in the UK 05/20/11.
I took the stupid LIUK Test Oct. 2012.
We were granted ILR In Person in Croydon on 04/23/13.
Got BRP 2 days later, in mail box - it just appeared.

NEXT: The lil' red passpo

Lara - Yeah - I am just waiting to send off my American citizenship paperwork before sending off for my British passport.  Or I might send them off at the same time.  I'll be a little nervous until I get that passport in my hands and see it for real though!  My boyfriend is probably more nervous than me about it though.

Just wanted to drop a line to say hi!  I am from Georgia as well, and went to school at UGA. (my hubby went to Ga Tech :)  We moved at the beginning of the year and are living in Norwich.  So far so good!  Good luck with the rest of your planning!

I graduated from UGA but still have friends who went to GaTech - the rivalry is fun during the football game each year!  My future in-laws are in Norwich - small world!

Hi,

Please let me know when you arrive, or get ready to arrive over here in England.  I didnt read every single post, but assume your still in Ga right now.

I have no clue where Northhampton is over here, but maybe we can at least meet up or chat via phone/skype, as it would be great to have an atlanta native friend here.

I have an Atlanta phone number here in England (and a uk phone number), as I brought over our Vonage box from atlanta allowing me to keep my atlanta number and add a uk number, so your always welcome to ring me.  Send me a Message when your here or whenever if you want to chat.

Nemie

YAY! Glad you did some poking - it is totally worth it and I wish I would have known before I did the visa thing and paid out money and stressed over it.  At least I am good forever now ;-)

I hope it goes quick!
