Plus size lingerie?
« on: October 24, 2011, 04:48:51 PM »
Hiya all,

I'm in a bit of a pickle. I thought I'd easily be able to find plus size lingerie here, but I am really struggling. I want it to be a surprise, so since I can't drive and I don't know where many lingerie stores are in my area (nor have the time to be catching buses all over the place), I am left to shop online (which is fine).

I am looking for a satin chemise, or glamorous type lingerie, nothing too raunchy, not cotton grandma nightgowns or "naughty nurse" costumes, which seem to be most of what I am finding in my searches (one extreme or the other). The few things I found that I really liked, in my size and that weren't a forture, were of course on back order/sold out!

I'd just like some elegant, glamorous, sexy type lingerie I can wear on my honeymoon.  Any suggestions for this plus-sized gal?

Thank you!

Not sure what size you're looking for, but if you hop a bus or train into Leeds city centre, for actual shops you could try Evans or Marks & Spencer - that's probably where I would start anyway.  Evans is a plus size shop - lingerie section is the back right corner of the store.

Evans is also right across from La Senza - not sure what plus size they may or may not have.

Also, Bravissimo is in the Victoria Arcades.  All of these shops are within easy walking distance of each other in city centre.

Online:

http://www.yoursclothing.co.uk/

Those two might be the same company - JD Williams has like a zillion different websites - Simply Be, Marisota, etc...but it's all the same catalogue company.  Shop Direct is another catalogue company like that too.

Looks like you can get a single bus from Pontefract to Leeds city centre - takes about 45 minutes.  About the same time on the train, with a change in Wakefield.

I second Bravissimo...I can't for the life of me get bras from M&S but that is probably because the ladies that work at my M&S are just rude  >:(

Bravissimo is fabulous and I really can't say enough about their fittings!  Also, once you know the size in a bra you love you can order it online and they have free returns if you need to :)

Good luck!  Mr grandma always says bra shopping is like shopping for a major appliance

Thank you both for the suggestions. I had tried most of the stores you mentioned already, with no luck. I just looked at the websites for Evans and Bravissimo, but they had none at Evans and only 2 cottony 'nightdress' type things at Bravissimo. I guess I could call the store and ask them if they have a bigger selection in store.

Thanks again.

Oooh, I forgot, I actually got 4 outfits. :)

I got this, with a short black satiny robe and black French knickers

I also got this:

(funny, as I'm not wearing a white wedding gown, but I thought I should have a white lingerie set for the wedding night, don't know why)

this:

and finally this:

check out the back view. LOL!

I spent a friggin' fortune, but time is running out and I'm sure he'll be most appreciative. :D

Thank you!

Yeah, LOL, I was looking for a bit more, I dunno, sedate/elegant/mature (not sure the word I am looking for!), but I saw these things and thought, "what the heck". I've worn similar before, but I am a bit shy now that I've gained some weight. Hopefully they will be a hit, regardless.

Thank you again for the link!

It's your honeymoon, Fallgal!!!  Hold your head high & feel pretty - sexiness, happiness and confidence aren't limited only to teensy people.
