In case I missed options for shipping
« on: October 22, 2011, 01:24:17 AM »
There is good advice in a couple of threads so I would like suggestions a bit more specific to our situation if you would please.

I am slowly sorting and thinning out stuff but I know I am wanting to take most of what we own. I realise I may kick myself once there, but I'd rather have it there and then decide to give it away.

We are keeping this house for a couple of years (unless something happens) not because we want two homes but it is wheelchair made and these homes aren't anymore plentiful here than there. We can't store at others homes. If I left stuff to be shipped later, I am thinking that would be a huge hassle for folks on this side. Am I right? I mean big things or heavy things or breakables requiring careful packing.

Now, would it be at all helpful to box up some things and label contents and have it ready for sending to us when I tell them to or is it smarter to let shipping company do most of it?

We will not be travelling back and forth. I doubt I get back once a year and I can't imagine why he would want to. So there can't be any coming back and taking more things over or stocking up.

We are taking whatever boxes we can manage and airlines allow (Haven't got that far) plus, I will send some stuff to the local UK PO that they can hold for a few weeks for us to collect.

Am I overlooking some options?

Thanks.

Have you looked into getting just part of a container?
