I've been able to save a bit of money ($100 or so?) flying from Newark, rather than Philly (if you're on the Jersey side of things...). But my sister also lived ~20 mins from EWR then. Now she's ~20 mins from PHL...So I don't know if the money saved is worth the inconvenience if it's out of the way for you.
