After reading that menu Kerri, I am considering inviting myself over.  ;D Yum!

I've got everything in order, more or less.  :) There's just two of us, by the way!

Christmas Eve:

Sweet chili and cranberry glazed baby back ribs
Sweet potato casserole with pecan topping
Braised red cabbage and apples

Christmas Day:

Turkey breast roulade with sausage, sage and onion stuffing
Pigs in blankets
Roasted potatoes
Sauteed Brussels sprouts
Honey roasted parsnips
Cranberry sauce (I'm not making this from scratch as I end up with too much!)

Boxing Day / Various Snacks, etc.:

I'm going to make a few platters and snack foods to munch on as we go:

Cheese platter (mmm, Wensleydale with cranberries on plain digestives with a dollop of cranberry sauce is my fave!) with fresh fruit
Deviled eggs
Sugar and spice nuts
Fruit cake (Homemade and sooo amazingly good. Normally I don't like Christmas cake, but this plain fruit cake I got the recipe for is the bomb!)
Belgian chocolate chip shortbread (thanks to Costco)
Finger sandwich platter
Mini pies (beef and ale and chicken and tarragon sauce - thanks to Costco)
Mini pork pies

Not really doing a pudding as I don't like Christmas pudd and we have the fruit cake and loads of other snacks and things.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, everyone!  ;D

I went to the store last night, so I think I've finalized things. It's going to be a very sausage-y Christmas!  :P

Christmas eve:

French onion soup stuffed mushrooms
Spinach and artichoke dip with pita chips and nice bread
Veggies and dip
Homemade chicken meatballs in marinara
Fruit salad
Seasonal beer

Christmas day:

Biscuits with sausage gravy for breakfast

Lunch will be:
Ham
Garlic dauphanoise potatoes
Green bean casserole
Potato and sausage stuffing (MIL sent the recipe)
Corn
Pickled red beet eggs
Raw veggies
Christmas cookies

That evening we'll have the leftovers from Christmas eve, cheese and sausage dip, shrimp cocktail, and more beer.  ;D

St Stephen's Day:

Ham pot pie

No alcohol that day because my sister and her family will be there, so we're not allowed to drink the devil's brew in their presence.  :-X That's why we have to get it in early!  ;D

All those menus look incredible!

Tacos for lunch tomorrow. Not overly Christmassy, I know, but we're off to BIL's for the all out feast Christmas Day, and I want a relaxed Christmas Eve, since it is our last one here.

I've decided to do a roasted chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy, some steamed veggies and a decadent dessert tomorrow night. Tasty but simple, leaving lots of time to watch Christmas movies in the afternoon.

I have no doubt there will be lots of snacking and goodie eating throughout the day tomorrow.

I'm not sure what we will be doing for Boxing Day food, but with all the chocolate that I *somehow* know Santa will be putting in our stockings, I'd be content with no real food all day.  ;D

I'm making a big roast chicken with lemon, fennel and onions for Christmas Day, plus Hasselback potatoes and Yorkshire puddings on the side.

I have a question, though: I was given a fancy Christmas pudding as a gift today, and on the tag it says 'steam for at least 2 hours'.  What does this mean??  I've never made one before and the answers I'm finding online are confusing me.  I don't have a steamer, so I'll have to cook it in the oven or on the hob -- I guess the oven would be best for such a long cooking time?

Do you have a basket that you steam vegetables in?  That's what I did. You'll have keep making sure there is enough water. If you don't have a steamer you could use an inverted ramekin to hold up the pudding in a pot on the stove or any other plate or bowl that will keep the pudding elevated above the water.

Change of plan for today. The friend who fed us last night is coming over tonight for Tacos and some cakes and pies and snacks.

I happened to pass a Polish shop today and was able to get plain horseradish as well, so we're having this today. ;D I haven't had it in so long!

After feasting at a friend's last night, and having a taco feast and only one (so far) of the two or three planned evening treats... and knowing tomorrow will be an all day food fest, we have decided Boxing Day might be sandwiches or cereal if we can manage to eat anything.  ;D Of course saying that, I think we say that every year and manage.
