Hello!
« on: December 03, 2011, 03:43:38 PM »
Hiya!
I just got word 2 days ago that my PhD proposal was accepted at the University of Edinburgh!  I'll be moving next August!  While I've lived in Aberdeen before (another school degree), I'm excited and a little frightened about my impending move.  My situation is different than when I lived in Scotland 7 years ago, including owning a house and having 3 cats that MUST come with me.  Any help, guidance, information, or tips would be greatly appreciated!

I'll be haunting often, I'm sure!
Cheers,
Stephanie

Hello

How exciting for you to be able to try for the degree and move to Scotland! All kinds of people here and some great info so please ask and express as often as you like.

Of course those cats have to go with you! Have you seen the good cat info on here?

Very best wishes!

Wow, congratulations!

I can't offer much in the way of advice, but just wanted to say, "Welcome!"   There are plenty of really helpful, friendly people here so I'm sure you will get all of your questions answered.

9/22/2012 Hubby received letter with date for finger printing.
10/12/12 Hubby went for finger printing.
10/26/12 Dh got a letter stating when he should appear for his interview and test- 11/27/12- just a month away!!!

Thanks to all for the kind introductions!
I'm looking forward to haunting the site a bit more often as my move draws closer!

Having previously lived in Scotland (only for a year), I'm not a newbie per se, but this time my situation is a bit different and I'll be searching for great advice!

Congrats! Edinburgh is a good city (I'll be there tonight for Hogmanay) but Glasgow is better ;) old town is nice, but touristy, and Edinburgh accents are much easier to understand than Aberdenians hahaha. The university is nice, from what I heard (I attended Glasgow Uni), and you will enjoy it!
