The only thing I can add to this is that you'll probably still be considered an "international student" at universities regardless of your marriage until you've lived in the UK for three years. I have been here on a student visa for a year and will be switching to a spousal visa before uni starts again this term, but I'm still bound to pay international student fees because I haven't been a resident for three years.
The loophole (at least at my uni) is that there is no provision for internationals going to school part-time since they would normally be required to study full-time in order to fulfill the requirements of the student visa. SO by having a spousal visa, my uni. was stuck letting me pay home student fees in order to go part-time. Of course there is yet another "but" to the story - even though I'll be part-time and paying home student fees, my uni. had a (rather arbitrary, IMHO) rule that international students going part-time have to have a job for a minimum of 25-hours per week.
