I'm an American citizen married to a French wife for 6 years and we are both living in London. Since I was expecting to get transferred to my company's US office imminently, my wife applied and successfully received her IR1 immigrant visa for a spouse of a US citizen. However, shortly after getting her IR1 acceptance letter, my transfer was postponed by 1-2 years.
We returned to the US for 2 weeks during the Christmas holidays, but are now back in the UK and do not want to negatively impact her residence status by staying outside of the US for an extended period of time, so we have completed an I-131 application. Is it possible to submit the I-131 to the US Embassy in London or does it absolutely need to be done from within the US?
Sorry if I have overlooked this topic thread elsewhere within this forum, but I really appreciate any clarity you are able to provide.
