Any updates on this? I just purchased some, and only realized when the cashier had to age verify that (duh) there are teeny tiny explosives! We've 12 total with 3 people traveling, so I'm hoping that if I keep them in their boxes (tho ugh - big box) and split between two pieces of luggage, it'll hopefully be ok.
If not, I guess merry Christmas to the security folks!
Thanks!

I just sent some American friends home with a few loose crackers in their checked luggage and they made it without incident.  They were travelling on an American airline, although I don't recall which one.

However, I think you will have to check individual airlines and airports to see what their rules are.  I randomly checked easyJet:

which says you can bring in carry on luggage if they are in original packaging but certain airports will only allow them in checked luggage.

BA says you can bring them in original packaging in checked luggage only but not from London City Airport:

American Airlines says they are not allowed in hand or checked luggage:

Yup, American didn't allow them. But said they were all donated to places, so at least they aren't having a party in the back;)

My mother-in-law said she always bought them at TJ Maxx when she lived in the States.

I never had a problem finding them in the US. Either TK Maxx or William Sonoma - there was no shortage of crackers!  :)

Cool! Even though we never really popped any, other than my first Christmas here because I hadn't before, I like having them around to decorate with.
