Crawling?
« on: September 21, 2004, 07:41:45 AM »

So, when did your little ones crawl? My neice who is 2 weeks older than Philip is crawling all over the place, and he's only just starting to seem interested. I'm not worried or anything, since I know this is one of those things that some babies do way early, some do late, and some never do at all - - - I just wondered what everyone else's experiences were.

Also: you can vote once for each child (assuming no one here has more than 10 children!), so let me know what each of your little ones did!

Am I allowed to vote if I don't have kids?  When I was a nanny for a family of 2 (the second child came along about a year after I started watching the first one) the baby started crawling around 10 months.  I remember it well because she waited for me to go on a week's vacation and when I got back she was all over the place.

I got to see her first steps though...so in a way, I suppose it alright.  :)

edited to add:  When she first started we called it her injured soldier look.  She sort of propped herself on one arm and pulled herself along.  After a week or two though, she was full on crawling.

LOL at Injured Soldier look! :)
And of course - anyone who knows babies, I want your opinion!

At first I really really wanted him to start crawling, but after getting on my hands and knees and crawling around our stupidlysmall place today - I thought I'd better enjoy non-crawling time as much as possible!!!

CORDS!
EVERYWHERE!!! [/b]

Yes, do enjoy it whilst you can.  Once they get moving, they become very difficult to photograph!

My daughter was proper crawling at 6 months and was pulling herself up to standing after a couple of weeks at it.  Nothing was safe after that!!!  She took longer to walk after accomplishing the standing since she was 10 1/2 months old.
My son crawled at 6 months and walked at 10 months.
Enjoy the non crawling stage and baby proof everything now so you don't have surprises later on.
My home is still continues to be child proofed.  I hope that I will be able to put my books back on the shelves in a couple of years. :P

I have to admit that is one of the things I am so worried about going back to the states and living with my parents for a little while. Here there is what I call a Juliona free zone, I can actually walk out of the area and know she is safe everything is out of reach except her stuff and at my moms (since it has been just the 2 of them for so  long) everything is at reach to Juliona. I am going to have to follow her everywhere make sure she is not getting into things. ARRGGHHHHH :o

My first son, Jordan never really crawled till he started taking his first steps. He used to get around on his back and just scootch around moving his head and body like some sort of worm. (So weird, we were just talking about this this morning). After he started taking steps, he learnt to crawl. Very STRANGE little boy!
My second son crawled from 6 to 15 months before taking his first steps! What a LAZY little boy!
My third son started to crawl between 5 and 6 months and was fully walking just before a year old. What a CLEVER boy!
My third son is just 15 weeks old so Im not sure. All I can say is OH BOY, ANOTHER BOY!

The oldest crawled at six months.  The perfect crawler.  The next one never crawled. Well, ok, she crawled for an afternoon.  Then she crawled to the center of the living room stood up and started walking!  At nine months :o.  Then she started running about two weeks later and didn't stop til she was about five.   ::)  The baby didn't crawl till almost 14 months.  God Bless the Lazy Baby.   :)
