We are having our new washing machine delivered on Wednesday. There is a space for it in the kitchen, and the previous tenants definitely had a washing machine there. However, we've noticed that there is an inlet pipe to connect to the washing machine, but no obvious place for the waste pipe to go. It does look like at one time there was a hole in the wall which would allow the waste pipe to drain directly outside, but that has been blocked up. The only option appears to be to connect the washing machine waste pipe to the pipe coming from the kitchen sink. Does this sound ok, or are we asking for trouble? I imagine this is how the previous tenants must have done it as there are no other options, but on the other hand it seems like there should be a separate waste pipe otherwise water might come back up into the kitchen sink?
