ebay troubles yet again!
« on: February 23, 2012, 04:20:45 PM »
So I've been trying to get rid of our old car since we bought a new one and thought I'd try ebay before scrapping it. I sold it for more than scrap value but the winner keeps calling to postpone the pick up date even though I said in the listing it needs to go by thursday (last day to mot is saturday so just wanted rid of it before so they could drive it home). I keep agreeing to wait but now I think he's just messing with me so can I cancel the sale on ebay? I just want my massive fee back and to scrap it. I don't care anymore how much we get for it. I just need it off our property and I'm doing my dissertation right now so I'm stressed enough as it is (DH works from early to late too so he can't deal with it either).

So basically, can I just try to cancel the sale without getting into trouble? What should I say is my reason?

:) thanks

I believe you can cancel the transaction at any time as the seller. Also, (and I'm not entirely positive about this) but eBay allows for 2 weeks, starting on the day the Auction ends, to send in payment. If it's been over two weeks, then you can most certainly file a claim with eBay and close the sale alltogether.

I hope it works out for you. I've had my fair share of trouble on eBay and it is not fun.

Good Luck! :)

Poor thing. I'm sorry.
Can you ask around if there isn't a live auction you can take it to?
Since you are at a university can't you list it on a bulletin board?
I realize there is a time factor.

Thanks Liliana. It's been about a week but my ebay is set to start a dispute within 4 days of non payment. Since he keeps getting in contact with me though, I've not started the dispute within 4 days like I normally would've done. Also if he does come and get it, I don't want him to be really mad and try to haggle or be aggressive towards me (happened in the past and it made me cry it was awful).

:) Thanks Cheers. I've posted it up really cheap for anyone interested on facebook (mostly uni friends on there). I've had a few friends show interest but then never spoke about it again after that point. I'm going to see about these live auctions though. Never thought of that.
