Getting a personal loan on a Spouse Visa
« on: March 16, 2012, 08:48:06 PM »
My husband is about to apply for his ILR and has been here since July 2010, has worked in a good job since he got here and all is well.  We need a loan and I cannot apply for one due to my IVA.  Is he allowed?  Would it affect his ILR?

There is nothing in the visa rules that say he cannot have a loan. It will not effect his ILR application in the future -- unless he defaults and ends up with a CCJ.

HOWEVER, you may find it difficult to find a lender that will actually give him a loan to begin with since he does not have ILR.

This.

Plus, if you have an IVA and would like to take out a loan, perhaps getting some debt advice regarding the implications, financial or otherwise, may help, particularly as you already have an IVA?

Best wishes.  :)
