Anyone with twins or more?
« on: March 16, 2012, 05:20:13 PM »
Anyone have twins or more?

We have 4 year old triplets - big part of the reason we decided to move this year as they will start reception class in the fall.  Just wondering how it is with multiples, I think they are a lot more common over here so I wonder if we will stick out as the "American triplets"!

It will be interesting, living here I would have requested to have the kids in separate classes.  I think they need a break from each other sometimes!  But the class sizes are only 30 so they will be together for sure!

Oh my goodness, bless you! My friend is pregnant with triplets and she likes to call herself "The freak show at the freak show" because apparently in all the special for-multiples things that they go to, they are the only ones with three. So I don't know how much more common they are, I'd say they are still pretty rare.

Ha if she thinks she is a freak show now, wait until the babies come!   ;D  Talk about stares and stopped constantly.  PM me if you want, I'll give you my email and she can get in touch if she has any questions!

The baby phase is a lot of work, now we are ready to start school which I am sure will be a whole new set of challenges.  Looking forward to it.  It will be really nice to have family around, we have no family in States and DH's entire family in UK.

I have twins but they're only 2 so I couldn't help with advice on schooling them. I'm a member of TAMBA, though, and I understand they are trying to change rules about the rights of twins in schools. I don't know all the details but some schools have policies which always put the twins in separate classes and sometimes you can't put twins in the same school at all. I'm sure there is more information on the website, you should check it out.

As far as freakshows go, yes, plan on it. It's hard enough being inconspicuous with multiples but when you add the accent, it's a lost cause. Just today I realised how incapable I am of blending in when I took my kids out to the park in their wagon. From the comments and looks I got from nearly every person there, I guess wagons are not that common! Who knew?!

Ha Ashley yes I believe they will forever be known as the American triplets!  They obviously are speaking now but I believe will pick up the English accent learning new words at school, etc.  Their vocabs are still fairly small, conversational of course for 4 year olds, but nowhere near a full adult vocab.  I didn't know they might still split them up in reception, I hope so!  Did you have the twins in the states or over there?   We don't get stopped much anymore, we have BGB fraternal so they don't look alike.  People sometimes ask if they are twins and we're like "um no there are three of them so they are triplets" lol.  One of our set is smaller so maybe they think it it is twins and a younger brother.  : )

I had my girls here. We don't get stopped anymore either. Mine are also fraternal and one is a lot taller as she takes more after her father and the other takes more after me. So the question I get now is "how much age difference is there between them?" and they're always a bit stumped when I  say "14 minutes".

Hi Ashley, sorry I realized I had never responded back to you!  Hope you are doing well, we will be leaving in a few weeks now, can't believe it is coming up so fast.  Kids got their placement for the fall and starting school in Sept.  Ha yes we get that question too and my answer is "one minute, and two minutes - all three kids within 3 minutes".
